Kate Paine
I’m Australian and live with my husband and daughter in Meilen, Switzerland. I started piano at age five and haven’t stopped playing and singing since then. The only problem is that these days I have to compete with my husband and daughter for access to the piano.
I completed a Bachelor of Music at the University of Queensland and having been teaching and performing, in Australia, the UK, and Switzerland. I founded the Discovering Music studio in 2010, with the aim of providing an alternative to the more traditional ways of learning music.
Music plays such an important role in our family, and is about so much more than reaching a certain level or being able to play the notes. My focus is on providing a warm and supportive environment, in which my students are introduced to the world of music in such a way that they fall in love with it, just as we did.

My other great love is writing. As well as Discovering Music, I have an English writing consultancy, in which I coach in all aspects of writing and research skills for students and professionals at every level of proficiency. To find out more go to Writing and Research Skills
